The next two months we are down doing our usual upkeep on the boat including our tackle racks are getting repleced by stainless steel, a new Furuno digital dual frequency meter, a Furuno side scanning sonar, new radios and general paint for the wheel house. In the galley we have a real beer cooler, sandwhich prep. station, new counter tops and seating in galley. On the outside we are just doing a little spot painting and waxing the hull. We will see you march first for the opener.

Captain Shawn Steward has been in the sport fishing business since the age of 12. Starting in the Channel Islands area aboard the ESTRELLA with Captain Jim Easley. After going from scrubbing boats and learning the ropes to getting his captains license at the early age 19 he spent time running the PACIFIC DAWN, SPEED TWIN and the MIRAGE.
In 1997 Shawn made the next step and went to work along Pat Cavanaugh aboard Bill Poole’s long range sport fisher EXCEL where he went from deckhand/engineer to second operator and eventually took Pat Cavanaugh’s place as captain of the EXCEL in 2002. During his time on the EXCEL Shawn learned the importance of a clean boat, customer service, and the never give up attitude that all long range crewmembers learn. Bringing back numerous notable catches and a few record catches, Shawn developed a great friendship with all of his fellow angler’s and peers.
In March of 2007 Shawn decided to leave the EXCEL and the long range scene to spend more time at home with his wife Marissa who is a Registered Nurse in Ventura and newborn son Christopher Robin. In January of 2008 Shawn and Marissa purchased the ALOHA SPIRIT and will be specializing in limited load open party and charters. With Shawn’s aggressive never give up attitude and friendly courteous crew, the ALOHA SPIRIT will give you a fishing experience that will keep you coming back for more.
